London based designers, Ilya Fleet and Resha Shama, have created another stand-out collection of sculptural leather accessories this season. The design duo has achieved dynamism, functionality and sublimity of form within each piece, by combining their knowledge of traditional equestrian saddle making and graphic design. Three dimensional design is particularly prominent throughout these sexually playful pieces, highlighted through the selection of unique shapes and angular panels seen in the Bullet and Diamond clutch bags. Their designs also draw attention to Fleet Ilya’s raw edge when it comes to the experimentation of luxury leather form and construction.

Junya Watanabe has broken from his more archetypal silhouettes this season and has created a bold, sport inspired collection. Air-tex mesh dresses and tops stand out with bright shards of colours and contrast knit bodies.

Martina Spetlova’s collection this season highlights her distinct design capabilities. These brightly colored, woven garments demonstrate Spetlova’s skill to combine intricate design techniques with her in-depth knowledge of chemistry, which she previously studied in Prague before she followed her fashion career at Central Saint Martins.

LN-CC has long been stocking intricately patterned skulls, designed by Catherine Martin of Our Exquisite Corpse. The latest additions include a striking 8ft giraffe ‘skeleton’ cast in resin and featuring the same stunning attention to detail.

Each piece is crafted by the Huichol artisans of central Mexico who have been making beaded art for centuries, originally forging them from shells and seeds as part of their rich, religious traditions.

Piece D’Anarchive is the work of three exciting young designers: Virginie Muys and sisters Deborah and Priscilla Royer. SS13 sees the launch of their first full collection, after three seasons of honing their unique sensibilities on knitwear-only offerings. The fact that they have taken up base in a studio overlooking the oldest square in Paris, Place des Vosges speaks volumes about their approach. Their irreverent, progressive approach to design is grounded by a genuine respect and adherence to the qualities of traditional, often archaic, craftsmanship. In order to create the bold yet refined pieces that make up their SS13 output, the brand turned to one of France’s last remaining luxury knitwear manufacturers.

Colombian-born designer Haider Ackermann came to Europe at just 9 months old, when he was adopted by a French family. After a childhood that also saw him spend extended periods in Ethiopia, Chad and Algeria, Ackermann went on to study fashion design in Belgium at the world-renowned Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Ackermann’s work is striking in its use of luxurious fabrications and an unparalleled, deft use of color. His SS13 collection exemplifies both aspects, whilst also incorporating bold patterns into the mix of silken fabrics and rich, earthy/navy tones.
